Printing Raw Material Standards
Notebook paper, ink, and leather are important parts of our quality assurance. Prolead is committed to providing high-quality notebook printing customization, which also extends to our selection of partners. Thanks to our supplier evaluation process, each manufacturing partner meets our strict quality and ethical standards.
Choice of Notebook Paper
Writing paper :Â The most common and basic type, suitable for daily writing, note-taking, and studying. It offers good ink absorption for smooth and clear writing.
Woodfree paper :Â A higher-quality writing paper often used for premium notebooks. It has high whiteness, good brightness, excellent ink absorption, and a smooth writing feel.
Art paper :Â Also known as coated paper, this paper is coated and super-calendered to create a smooth surface and vibrant color reproduction. It is often used for notebook covers or pages requiring high-quality printing effects.
Sketch paper :Â Designed for drawing and sketching, its textured surface allows pencils or charcoal to create rich layers and artistic effects. It is commonly used in art notebooks.
Loose-leaf paper :Â Used in loose-leaf notebooks and binders, allowing pages to be easily added, removed, or replaced.
Acid-free paper :Â Specially treated to resist yellowing and deterioration, making it ideal for long-term storage such as archives or important records.
Wood-free paper :Â Made from chemical pulp rather than mechanical wood pulp, which helps prevent yellowing over time.
Recycled paper :Â Produced from recycled materials, making it more environmentally friendly. Many notebooks now use recycled paper to reduce environmental impact.
Different brands may use different paper types to meet various needs. When choosing a notebook, factors such as texture, thickness, and ink absorption should also be considered.
All paper used by Prolead is FSC certified.
Soybean Oil Ink for Eco-Friendly Printing
Soybean oil ink is an environmentally friendly and sustainable choice widely used in notebook printing and paper product printing. Compared with traditional petroleum-based inks, soy ink provides brighter colors, higher pigment concentration, and excellent gloss while maintaining stable and reliable printing performance.
Because soybean ink is made primarily from renewable soybean oil, it significantly reduces dependence on fossil fuels and lowers environmental impact. In addition, soy-based printing ink produces fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the printing process, helping reduce air pollution and create a cleaner production environment.
Soy ink also offers excellent durability, light resistance, and print clarity, making it ideal for children’s books, notebooks, notepads, desk calendars, and other printed materials.
At Prolead, we are committed to sustainable printing solutions. Since our founding, we have used eco-friendly soy ink to deliver high-quality printing while reducing environmental impact and supporting greener manufacturing practices.
Leather Materials for Custom Notebook Covers
Leather is a popular material widely used in custom notebook printing, especially for premium notebook covers. Generally, leather used in notebook production can be divided into two types: genuine leather and imitation leather.
Genuine leather notebook covers are made from natural animal leather that has been professionally treated and processed. It is typically classified into top-grain leather, split leather, and bonded leather. Among them, top-grain leather has the densest fiber structure, offering excellent durability, breathability, and a natural texture. Because it retains the natural grain of the leather, each cover has a unique and high-end appearance.
Imitation leather, commonly known as PU leather or PVC leather, is designed to replicate the look and texture of real leather. A PU leather notebook cover provides a cost-effective alternative while still maintaining an attractive appearance and good durability.
Leather covers add elegance and durability to notebooks, making them ideal for premium notebooks, planners, journals, and corporate gifts.
Located in Guangzhou, the leather capital of China, Prolead has access to a strong leather supply chain. We can provide a wide range of leather notebook cover materials and custom craftsmanship to meet your printing and design needs.
